Rancho San Rafael

We decided that it is time to start exploring our new surroundings. The Reno area is really big and there is a lot of fun things we'd like to do before moving in February. So, today we went out to the Rancho San Rafael park. It's a huge ranch that used to be owned by Wilbur D. May. There is tons of space to run and play, it has a park, many different picnic areas, a museum (that houses a lot of Wilbur's possessions. He was an excellent gamesmen. He hunted all over the world. They had polar bears and a giraffe, lions, tigers, and some animals that I had only heard of, never seen before), all kinds of different garden areas that you can walk through, but, the main event is an amusement park type area. It has a log ride, horse back riding, a dinosaur park, where the kids can play on the huge dinos, a gold mining area, and a discovery zone for the kids. So, this afternoon we picked up some lunch, took a few frisbees and went over to check this place out. We only made it to the play park, museum, and into one of the gardens before Levi was more than ready for his nap. We're planning another trip back in the next few weeks to finish checking things out. Here is a few pics of our fun!

One of the very cool trees as you enter the gardens. There was lots of wildlife to see also....bunnies, all kinds of different birds, butterflies, squirrels. Tons of fun!

Walking through the garden. Levi had played so hard, he was pretty tired by this point.

Daddy would throw the frisbees and Levi would take off running and laughing to get them. Dan kept saying that he couldn't believe he was playing 'fetch' with his son!

Coming back with the frisbees to be thrown!

We stopped chasing frisbees and started rolling them down the hill.

Levi came across this dandelion. He loves blowing the seeds off, but, as you can see, he got a little close and ended up eating some of the seeds. He wasn't very happy about it!

So, he enlisted a little help. Daddy to the rescue!!

Levi had a lot of fun trying to throw the frisbees himself. It was pretty cute!

This is Levi telling his "and the fish was thiiis biiiig" story!

Handsome Daddy!!
